The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at the University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), has been at the forefront of an innovative training program titled “Computational Tools for Teaching & Learning Sanskrit.” This initiative has successfully trained 450 Ayurvedic medical practitioners across nine batches, each comprising 50 participants. The program is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and emphasizes the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The inauguration of the ninth and final batch took place on 11th July 2024 at the Seminar Hall, MMTTC. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and was presided over by Dr. Vaidya Jayant Yeshwant Deopujari, Chairman of NCISM. The theme of the workshop was eloquently presented by Prof. Kamlesh K. Dwivedi. The workshop effectiveness was reiterated by Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Director of MMTTC, and Dr. Amba Kulkarni, the course coordinator.
The training program embodies the essence of the NEP, which advocates for a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to education, rooted in the rich cultural heritage of India. By utilizing computational tools to teach and learn Sanskrit, the program not only preserves but also promotes the classical language, which is integral to the study of Ayurveda. The NEP’s vision of leveraging technology to enhance educational outcomes is being realized through this initiative, which equips practitioners with the skills to access and interpret ancient texts using modern digital tools.
Over the course of nine batches, the program has achieved remarkable success:
